Spent most of the afternoon watching horse and rider ride around the arena floor before a panel of judges. Headed into the trade expo to check out their wares and even spotted a stall where you can buy copies of previous categories. Heck, in one of the booths they even have a direct line to the arena so you can see what's happening while you're not in the main arena.
After that, I headed back to check out the various stalls where you can get up close and personal with the mares, geldings, and yes, they had some stallions. The whole lot were sorted in their own 'stable farms'. I didn't visit all of the housing paddocks, each of the farm had on display patches of grasses, tables with trophies, even printed pictures of their various champion horses, along with a areas that wouldn't look out of place in a living room, and of course, beyond these areas were the 'stars' of the whole show, the Arabians and half-Arabians.
A few perked up as I slowly walked before their stalls and a small selection even allowed me to pet their heads, cheeks, and one even allowed me to scratch behind their ear. Although on the flip side, a few of those were clearly looking for treats for they began to lip my jacket and the knuckles of my fist, at least three tried to nibble on my knuckles thinking it for an apple I would suspect.
After I returned to the main arena, I stopped to purchase some caramel apple chips and a large blue raspberry snow cone. I stood by one of the recycling containers to eat my apple treat, leaving my glass of a snow cone on the top as well as my free editions of Canadian Arabian Horse News for January 2009, August 2009, and Newsletter from October 2008, today's Results, and an Arabian Horse Guidebook that featured a cute scene of a three to four year old with her mouth open within center-meters of a gray Arabian's nose.
Once I finished my caramel apple chips I was off finding a seat to watch more of the show as I began to work on my snow cone in a glass.
An enjoyable day, all things considered and hopefully, I'll be able to make it back to see next year's show.
